Keeping vulnerable people safe during the COVID-19 pandemic

Housing association VIVID is doing all it can to help vulnerable people in Aldershot and Farnborough by supporting many to move out of temporary accommodation and into permanent homes as quickly as possible. It’s working closely with Rushmoor Borough Council to make these essential moves happen to ensure the council can continue to free up temporary accommodation for rough sleepers and victims of domestic abuse during the coronavirus pandemic.

Alex Nagle, Head of Operations at VIVID, said: “We’re keen to provide accommodation for some of the most vulnerable in Rushmoor and we’re pleased to be able to support the council to make this happen. Rough sleepers are significantly more likely to have underlying health conditions, which could increase their vulnerability to COVID-19 and are often unable to follow government advice to minimise their risk of infection.

“We’re constantly reviewing the list of people waiting for essential housing and their requirements, and we’re getting properties ready to let as quickly as possible, material supplies permitting, while  following government guidance, social distancing and safety measures.”

Councillor Maurice Sheehan, Cabinet Member for Operational Services at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “I am really pleased that with VIVID, and other social housing landlords, we’ve managed to find emergency accommodation for some of the most vulnerable people in  our communities. We’re looking forward to continuing  this work with VIVID housing association,  so that quality accommodation can be offered  to those ready to move on from temporary accommodation, which in turn supports the flow of new accommodation for our most vulnerable residents and helps us to make best use of the housing resources that are available.”
