Working in partnership to support families leaving Afghanistan

We’ve been struck by the sad events that have unfolded in Afghanistan recently, and the vast number of families having to leave their homes, communities, and support networks.

We want to do what we can, alongside our partners, to support the government’s Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme to provide safe and secure homes for families relocating to the UK, giving them the foundations to help rebuild their lives and have brighter futures.

ARAP was launched in April 2021 to offer former locally employed staff (LES) in Afghanistan relocation opportunities and other assistance, in recognition of their commitment and bravery shown in supporting UK forces since 2013. Following the latest developments, the scheme is now being stepped up.

We’re working with our local authority partners Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hart District Council. And we’re keen to work with other local authority partners to support them by offering housing to those who have had to leave Afghanistan.
