Inside Housing has recently published the development outputs of every housing association throughout 2020-21. I’m delighted that our programme continues to be the 8th largest in the country. Despite construction coming to halt in the first lockdown from March 2020, we’ve continued to grow our ambitious programme and deliver on our promises. Over the year we’ve built 1,010 new homes and remain on track to deliver 17,000 by 2030.
But, perhaps more importantly, the strength of our programme means we figure in the majority of top 10 tables:
The survey highlights how last year 22.4% of our homes were for social rent, ranking us 9th in the list of housing associations building the most social rent homes and we’re determined to continue to deliver a range of tenures to suit our current and futures customers’ needs and circumstances. Our long-term aim is that we will provide 25% of new homes for social rent, 35% for affordable rent, 23% for shared ownership and 17% for outright sale, making sure that we improve access to housing for all customer groups.
We’re pleased to have had a strong all-round performance in all areas of our development despite a turbulent year and these results really endorse our ongoing commitment to developing more new social homes.
Our achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the strength of our partnerships with local authorities, developers, contractors, our strategic partnership with Homes England and our strong business plan. This year we’re determined to do even more and look forward to bringing more affordable housing options where they’re needed most.
