As a child having a safe place to play and have fun, close to home, can be something we might take for granted as we grow up. And as a parent having that freedom and space for our children can be so important and needed.
That much-needed space had to be utilised whilst work was being completed in partnership with Clarion and Lawtech to replace the cladding on our respective flats, at Collins Place and Priory View in Portsmouth.
During the work, the existing play area was fenced off to store materials, leaving no space to play for the children who lived there. After a period of unsettlement, and fast forward to now, the cladding work is complete, and VIVID has built an upgraded play area for the children.
The park includes a play pirate ship that the children named ‘Ship to Shore’ in a competition run by Motiv8. Motiv8 engaged with the young people in the community, helping to keep everyone out of harm’s way.
It's safe to say the children and parents were delighted with the new play park.
Sarah Smith, Place Shaping Manager at VIVID said: "We're so pleased to have been able to upgrade this much-needed space for the children. A huge thank you to Clarion, Lawtech, The Bailey Partnership and Motiv8 for their help in delivering this park. We hope it makes a positive difference to the local community."
This will make a massive difference for the little ones. Where we've had the scaffolding up for a while, there hasn’t been anything for them to do.
