The Rivercross development in Warsash was the focus of attention for the new Hamble Valley Member of Parliament, Paul Holmes, when he visited for a tour and progress update. The Brook Lane located scheme is being delivered by Fair Oak based Bargate Homes, which is owned by leading local housing association, VIVID; the fifth biggest builder amongst housing associations in England.
Over 100 of the 118 homes that are planned for phases 1 and 2 of the Rivercross development have now been completed but reflective of the scheme’s popularity locally, only three of the open market homes from those built to date now remain available. Importantly, these first two phases include a total of 48 new affordable homes – vital at the current time given current local housing waiting lists and the broader need that exists for affordable housing in the area.
Mark Perry, Chief Executive of VIVID commented: “It was great to catch-up with Paul in his new constituency and to highlight how our innovative development approach with the ownership of Bargate Homes is helping deliver well designed, well-built new open market housing locally but crucially, how it’s also helping us build more new affordable homes for those that really need them across our region. We’re proud of the efforts taken by the Bargate Homes’ team to progress this development, it was also encouraging to receive Paul’s positive feedback.”
Steve Birch, Bargate Homes’ Land & Planning Director, added: “We appreciated the time Paul spent with us, and we valued the opportunity to talk about the approach we’re taking to the design, layout and build quality of the open market and affordable homes we’re delivering here after many years of work in seeing this site secured and promoted through the planning system. It was also good to have the chance to speak about the importance of designing well balanced mixed tenure communities, as we’re creating here.“
It’s expected that the whole development will be completed by summer 2028.
Paul Holmes, the Member of Parliament for Hamble Valley, said: “Building new affordable homes is vital for the country and I believe every new development should be thoughtfully designed, well built, and fit into the local community. I was pleased to tour the Rivercross development and see how Bargate Homes are working to achieve this, and I look forward to seeing the final phase delivered. “
