VIVID hosts parliamentary candidate at Kings Barton development

Leading affordable housing provider, VIVID welcomed the Liberal Democrats’ parliamentary candidate for Winchester and Meon Valley, Danny Chambers to the Kings Barton development on Winchester’s Andover Road on Tuesday, where it’s taking control of a significant number of new affordable homes.

Working in partnership with the scheme’s developer, Cala Homes, VIVID has already successfully moved in over 66 customers while a further 36 new affordable homes are currently under construction.  Once all the affordable homes, which include both properties for social rent and shared ownership, are completed and handed over to VIVID, it will take the leading housing association’s overall stock across the Winchester local authority area to more than 1,250 homes.

Tristan Samuels, VIVID’s Group Development & New Business Director, said:“We’re grateful to Danny for taking the time to meet us at Kings Barton, which provided a great backdrop for us to talk about our work, how we’re continuing to support our customers and the additional homes that now form part of our stock in Winchester. Our meeting was particularly timely given the publication of the Liberal Democrats’ manifesto this week and the visit gave us the chance to also discuss with Danny some of the leading issues the sector’s currently facing.”

Danny Chambers commented: "Affordable housing is incredibly important. It ensures people from all backgrounds can afford to live and work in the local area. I was pleased to meet with VIVID to learn about the housing they provide, much of which is energy efficient. I look forward to meeting again to hear about the work VIVID is doing to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction possible."

The 36 shared ownership apartments which are now being built are due for completion by the early part of next year.
